4 Best Mighty Networks Alternatives (for Course Creators)

While Mighty Networks is a community-focused platform, it’s not the best option if you’re looking to sell courses.

Some other platforms offer better course creation tools while providing strong community features.

In this review, I will show you the best Mighty Networks alternatives.

I’ve used every platform on the list and I hope this saves you time and money and makes your choice easier.

Let’s jump into it!

1. LearnWorlds

My favorite Mighty Networks alternative is LearnWorlds.

It offers powerful course creation tools with advanced customization options, along with built-in community features.

But it’s a lot cheaper.

LearnWorlds is great, especially for course creators and course-creating teams with lots of needs in different areas of course creation (such as marketing, community building, websites, and such.)

It offers a smooth experience for both selling courses and engaging students in a community.

So it’s not just a course platform but also a community tool—very similar to Mighty Networks.

And even though it’s an all-in-one tool, it offers significantly lower pricing than Mighty Networks with the cheapest plans starting at $24/mo.

LearnWorlds allows you to scale your online courses nicely.

You can price your courses however you like and customize them to align perfectly with your brand.

This gives you full control over your course business and the flexibility to grow as you see fit.

(For example on platforms like Udemy or Coursera, this is not the case.)

Why LearnWorlds Over Mighty Networks?

LearnWorlds is a cheaper Mighty Networks alternative that has all the bells and whistles to host a course and a community.

But keep in mind, that building a community and attracting students is still up to you.

2. Thinkific

Thinkific is a strong Mighty Networks alternative. This platform offers robust course creation tools, easy customization, and a user-friendly interface.

In fact, I host two courses on Thinkific right now.

Even though you can find marketing add-ons and community features on Thinkific too, this platform mainly focuses on creating and hosting courses successfully.

If you want to design and sell courses with flexibility, while also providing features to engage students through communities, quizzes, and memberships, try Thinkific.

This platform is also cheap and you can use the free plan to get started.

Similar to LearnWorlds (or Mighty Networks for that matter), Thinkific doesn’t limit your design or earnings. You can build any type of course and set any price point you like without limitations.

But remember, it’s your responsibility to build the community.

Just having a course or community on Thinkific doesn’t mean you’ll get any students. The hard work starts there.

Why Thinkific Over Mighty Networks?

I prefer Thinkific over Mighty Networks because it’s user-friendly and offers a solid free version that meets my basic needs—nothing more, nothing less.

I also appreciate the support team; even though they sometimes use generic responses, they always read my messages and respond quickly.

Just remember that building a course is not enough. You need to market it through the roofs for your audience to make any sales.

3. Khan Academy

Khan Academy is a free online education platform that offers a vast range of subjects through interactive lessons.

It’s a great alternative to Mighty Networks if you’re looking to offer high-quality educational content without extensive customization or community features.

Khan Academy is free and non-profit!

It covers everything from math and science to arts and humanities. This makes it a great resource for students who want to focus on content delivery rather than managing a community.

Also, this makes it a lot easier for you as an educator because you can create and deliver content for free without having to invest time.

Why Khan Academy Over Mighty Networks?

Khan Academy is a free platform (unlike Mighty Networks.) It also has learning materials you can combine to create courses. This saves time and money.

For example, look at the sheer amount of pre-built courses there are:

But just remember it’s a non-profit platform designed for school topics such as maths, physics, and programming. This is not the option for you if you want to scale up a proper business.

4. Udemy

Another great Mighty Networks alternative is Udemy.

This is for you if you’re just interested in starting a course business from scratch as a beginner.

Udemy is a course marketplace and not necessarily a community. It has a huge audience and brand reputation which means you might land your first sales very quickly–especially because Udemy takes care of marketing your courses (unlike Mighty Networks.)

But the problem is obviously that Udemy requires you to be on brand with them. This means your course page will look like others.

Also, your course earnings are heavily limited thanks to the big flash sales that Udemy always runs and the cuts they take.

Why Udemy over Mighty Networks?

If you just want to sell and spread your expertise, try Udemy. It has a big audience to begin with and you don’t need to do marketing.

If you don’t want to create a community or worry about the steeper learning curve that Mighty Networks has, Udemy is a great choice.
